Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced the tri-state's first known case of the South African variant of the coronavirus in the region. The case is in a patient from Connecticut who was transferred to a New York City hospital for care and there is no evidence of any spread in the state, he said.

"The Connecticut patient is a Fairfield County resident between the ages of 60-70 who has not travelled recently," Connecticut's health department said in a release. Contract tracing has already been completed, the state's health officials said, who are coordinating alongside officials in New York.

Right, so someone who hasn't travelled, yet they have contracted the SAfrican variant in the community, and yet they make a claim that there's no clear evidence of any transmission in the state. What is this then, some virgin conception miracle??
