WA HEALTH authorities have issued a measles alert, after a confirmed case in an airline passenger who was infected in Thailand...

...The passenger left Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG483 which arrived in Perth about 7.50am on Tuesday January 2...

...In addition, people could have been exposed to measles at the following locations in Perth:

Perth Airport international terminal arrival area, from about 8am to 9am on January 2;

Coles at Northlands Plaza Shopping Centre in Balcatta from about 10am to noon on January 2, and during the morning of Saturday January 6;
KFC at 232 Walter Road West in Morley about midday on Friday January 5;
Woolworths at Stirling Central Shopping Centre on Wanneroo Road in Westminster on the morning of January 6;
Pharmacy777 on Arnisdale Road in Duncraig about 7.30pm to 8.30pm on January 6;
Joondalup Health Campus in and near the emergency department at about 2.45pm on Sunday January 7, and in the Medical Assessment Unit from late that day until about midday on Monday January 8...

Travellers who were at Melbourne Airport last Thursday are being warned to check for signs of measles.

An Australian man was "extremely infectious" with measles while on board a Melbourne-bound flight from Dubai last week, with fellow passengers being warned to be alert for symptoms.

The man in his 30s became unwell on the Emirates EK404 flight that landed in Melbourne on January 11 after departing Dubai the day before. The plane stopped in Singapore before landing in Tullarmarine...

The man in his late 40s visited public areas in the south-east Melbourne suburbs.

Dandenong, Ferntree Gully, Rowville, Knoxfield, Wamtirna South and Belgrave were all visited by the man with measles...

HEALTH authorities have confirmed a case of highly contagious and potentially deadly measles in an infant boy, issuing a warning to anyone who has visited the North Lakes area.

Metro North Public Health Unit (MNPHU) released the alert today, urging anyone who had visited North Lakes to ensure they had been vaccinated or seek medical advice...

... The child is believed to have visited the following locations while infectious, before he was diagnosed:

Tuesday February 27: Runcorn Plaza Family Medical Practice about 11.30am

Thursday March 1: Westfield North Lakes Shopping Centre about 7.30pm-8.30pm.

Friday March 2: Runcorn Plaza Family Medical Practice about 11 am, and Lady Cilento Children's Hospital Emergency Department, about 3pm-8pm.

SYDNEY, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Health authorities on Friday issued a measles alert throughout Australia's Victoria state, after a woman infected with the disease was found to have visited a number of tourist sites and major public areas.

Many people "in a large number of city and rural locations" may have been exposed to the virus between March 3 and March 7, the state's deputy chief health officer Dr Brett Sutton said in a media statement.

The woman, in her 20s, visited spots including a backpacker lodging, railway station, supermarket and bank in state capital Melbourne, as well as "multiple sites" along the scenic Great Ocean Road, according to state health authorities.

She is being treated in hospital and "people who develop illness over the next two weeks should alert their doctor or hospital emergency department," said Sutton...

The Victoria Department of Health and Human Services has issued a measles alert after two confirmed cases of the infectious disease in Melbourne were found. The first case visited a number of places across Melbourne, while the second was on an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne last week.

Case 2 was a middle-aged Australian man who fell ill on AirAsia flight D7241 from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne on March 7 from 9:30 a.m. until midday. He was also at Tullamarine Airport at that time. He went straight to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with measles.

The first case happened earlier this month. An infected woman travelled around Melbourne and some parts of Victoria from March 3, Saturday, to March 7, Wednesday.

She was at the following places on the given date:

March 3: Flinders Backpackers (Elizabeth Street, Melbourne), Flinders Street Railway Station, tram routes 16 and 96 to and from St Kilda beach, and St Kilda beach
March 4: Flinders Backpackers, Coles Central (flinders and Elizabeth St), McDonalds (Elizabeth St)
March 5: Flinders Backpackers, Phillip Island: Nobbies Visitor Centre Caf?
March 6: Flinders Backpackers, Westpac bank (Elizabeth Street), Medicare office (Galleria Shopping Centre, Bourke Street)
March 7: Flinders Backpackers, multiple sites along the Great Ocean Road between Geelong and Warnambool...

Queensland Health issued a health alert after the adult went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary last weekend.

An urgent measles alert has been issued for airline passengers after a man with the disease flew from Bali to Australia.

The Department of Health and Human Services issued the alert after the man contracted the disease and was hospitalised in Melbourne on Sunday.

The man fell unwell after flying from Bali to Sydney and onto Melbourne at the weekend.

He flew on Qantas flight QF44 from Denpasar to Sydney before boarding QF415 from Sydney to Melbourne.

He landed in Sydney at 6.25am and in Melbourne at 10.35am, Nine News reported.

Health experts warn he was likely contagious during both flights and could have passed the disease onto scores of people...

WA health authorities have issued a measles alert, after two confirmed cases of people infected overseas.

The alert covers several major locations in Perth, including Royal Perth and Bentley hospitals and Perth International Airport, where the two people may have been infectious to others.

The WA Health Department said the two adults were infected separately while holidaying overseas, one in Bali and the other in one of three Southeast Asian countries.

People could potentially have been exposed to measles at the following locations in Perth:

? Kung Fu Kitchen restaurant in Albany Highway, Cannington from around 12.30pm to 1.30pm on Saturday March 10

? Perth Airport international terminal arrival area, from around 8pm to 9pm on Sunday March 11, particularly associated with the arrival of Scoot flight TR 16 from Singapore.

? Busy Bee Pharmacy on William and James Streets in Northbridge on Monday March 12 around 12.30pm to 1pm; Wednesday March 14 around 12.10pm to 12.45 pm; and Friday March 16 around 8.40am to 9.15am.

? Queens Park Medical Centre in Wharf St, Queens Park, from:

around 3pm to 4pm on March 12
around 11.15am to 1.15pm on March 14
around 9.45am to 12 noon on March 16

? Bentley Hospital B Block ground floor and main entrance from:

A health warning has been issued by NSW Health after an infant who contracted measles overseas visited Bankstown and the Sydney CBD.

The infant was too young to be vaccinated and developed the illness after returning from South Asia, NSW Health said in a statement.

The child is said to have been on a train between Bankstown Station to St James Station on Friday, March 16 between 8am and 9.30am before visiting the Wesley Conference Centre on Pitt Street between 9am and 1pm.

The child returned on the same train route between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

NSW Health said the infant also visited the Rickard Road Medical Centre and the Rickard Road Chemist the following day between 5pm and 7.30pm.

A third case of measles diagnosed in Western Australia has been traced back to Bali.

The third infected person was confirmed on Saturday, one day after a Sydney infant was also diagnosed after travelling to south Asia.

Both WA and NSW have since issued a health warning over the illness.

Twenty cases of measles from Bali have been diagnosed in Western Australia since 2013, with seven from 2017...

A baby is one of six people diagnosed with measles after a man on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne unknowingly contaminated a baggage area.

Victoria?s measles cases rise again, with the department confirming one patient is from Echuca

UPDATE, TUESDAY 5.04pm: THE number of measles cases in Victoria has increased again, with a seventh new diagnosis confirmed.

The seventh patient is not believed to be based in regional Victoria.

Additional locations have been added to the list of places people with measles have visited while infectious.

They include:

March 16 ? Cardinia Life Leisure Centre, Pakenham, from 9.30 - 11pm
March 17 ? Collins Quarter, Collins St, Melbourne, 5.30pm - midnight
March 18 ? Melbourne Airport Tullamarine International Departures 7.30pm ? 1.30am March 19
March 19 ? Woolworths Westfield Plenty Valley (3pm); Collins Quarter, Collins St, Melbourne, from 3pm ? 7pm

MEASLES have struck again ? this time in Sydney?s west and southwest.

Anyone who visited the Children?s Hospital at Westmead or two general practices in Fairfield and Liverpool in the last week should be alert to the symptoms.

Two infants developed measles shortly after returning from South Asia. They are now isolated in hospital and responding to treatment.

That brings the March statistics to four across the state. All of them caught their infection while visiting one of several Asian countries, including Pakistan, India and The Philippines.

In the Western Sydney Local Health District alone, 2014 and 2017 were the worst for measles cases, with 10 each.

In the South Western Sydney Local Health District, there were seven cases in 2017 but the bulk of all measles cases since 2014 have been in people aged five and older.

The infants visited:

Dr DYK Tan?s Surgery, Harris St, Fairfield on Monday, March 23 from 1pm to 3pm

Liverpool Medical Centre, Moore St, Liverpool on Monday, March 26 from 3.30pm to 6pm

The Children?s Hospital Westmead emergency department on Monday, March 26 from 6.30pm to 10am and Hunter Baillie Ward on the same day at 10pm until Wednesday, March 28 at 4pm...

Logan residents have been told to be on high alert after a child visited two shopping centres while being infected with measles over the Easter long weekend.

The Metro South Public Health Unit has confirmed that it was not known that the child was infectious when they visited Logan Central Shopping Centre on March 29 and Arndale Shopping Centre in Springwood on April 2.

The child is believed to have visited Logan Central on the morning of March 29.

The exact times are not known but the child is believed to have visited Logan in the morning and Arndale about mid morning.

Public Health Physician Dr Kari Jarvinen said residents in the Brisbane southside and Logan areas in particular needed to be alert for symptoms...

Details of the fifth case were released by Metro South Health on Sunday following confirmation last week that four cases had been reported.

The latest patient?s movements included visiting the Fortitude Valley nightclub district for four hours from 11pm on Saturday March 31, during the Easter long weekend.

Public Health physician Bhakti Vasant said it was vital for residents, if they weren?t already, to be vaccinated for measles.

A Brisbane child has caused a health scare after being diagnosed with measles.

The child travelled on several international flights, visited a busy shopping centre and sat in the Logan emergency waiting room twice before being diagnosed with the infectious disease.

Passengers on a flight from the Philippines to Brisbane this week have been urged to check their immunisation status after a child onboard was found to have measles.

The child was infectious on flight PRO221 from Manila to Brisbane International Airport on July 8, Queensland Health said in a statement on Thursday.

He was also at the emergency department of Brisbane's Lady Cilento Children's Hospital two days later, between 2pm and 9.30pm.

Authorities have warned people on the flight to be alert to symptoms, which include fever, coughing, runny nose, rashes and sore eyes...
