A 15-month old was diagnosed with measles.
The infected child visited the local hospital twice. Officials hope now new cases will come forward.
Public health officials in Kainuu and Tampere have launched an investigation into the case of a 15-month old Kainuu child who was diagnosed with measles.
However, the public health watchdog the National Institute for Health and Welfare THL says the source of the infection may be difficult to trace.
Last Friday officials in Kainuu and Tampere began anti-contagion measures, including running tests on the infected infant, who had shown symptoms of the disease for more than one week. The THL estimates that scores of others may already have been exposed to infection. Among them officials are tracking unvaccinated children, pregnant women and individuals with weakened immune systems....
