Measles: 175 new victims in a day

LAHORE: At least 175 new cases of measles have been reported in different hospitals across Punjab on Wednesday while 26 new patients were admitted in city hospitals during the last 24 hours.

According to health department officials, at least 182 deaths have been reported so far during the last six-and-a-half months...

Both children belonged to Bahawalnagar.

Measles no longer an epidemic in Punjab

LAHORE: Due to an effective campaign, on time vaccination and active participation of the departments concerned, the Punjab government has successfully eliminated the outbreak of measles before the advent of Ramazan.

With each passing day, the number of measles patients is decreasing, while deaths are rare.

Only 11 new cases were brought to different government and private hospitals in the city during the last 24 hours. Moreover, no death has taken place in the city during the week mainly due to on time vaccination...

Measles on Wednesday claimed three more lives; one in the city and two in Rahim Yar Khan. The measles death toll in the province has raised to 186.

According to Health Department officials, a death was reported from the city?s Children Hospital and the victim was identified as one-year-old Gulfam of Ferozwala.

While in Rahim Yar Khan, two measles affected children who were under treatment in Sheikh Zaid Hospital died, raising the death toll to six in last three months across the district.

As many as 99 new cases of measles were reported from Punjab, including 13 from the city hospitals, increasing the total number of cases to 21,817 during the last six months...

Ten more measles cases have been reported in the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Rawalpindi, while a general rise in measles cases have been witnessed throughout the city.

Approximately, 634 measles affected children were brought to HFH, out of which 435 were admitted and kept in isolation wards. However, only ten children now remain and are under treatment in the hospital...

28 new measles cases reported

LAHORE: With 28 new cases reported between Monday and Tuesday, the number of measles cases in Punjab in the last seven months has reached 22,944.
According to health department officials, at least 192 deaths have been reported so far while most deaths occured in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kasur and Sialkot.
Around 28 cases of measles were reported from Punjab, including only three from city hospitals on Tuesday...

Extended Programme for Immunisation (EPI) Director Dr Munir Hussain on Saturday declared the city ?measles-free?.

He said measles had almost been eradicated from the city as no case of measles was reported during the last three days.

However in other parts of the province, the cases reported per day had dropped from 80 to 90 to 13 to 22...

ISLAMABAD:

Since January, around 655 measles cases have been registered in Holy Family Hospital (HFH), of which 365 were from Rawalpindi and 61 from Islamabad.

In addition, 20 cases have been reported from other cities, according to a report issued by HFH.

HFH Spokesperson Dr Javed Hayat said that there has been a significant decline in the number of measles cases over the past few months...

KARACHI: As many as 151 people died due to measles across the Sindh province this year so far, said Dr Masood Solangi Additional Secretary Health Sindh on Thursday.

Solangi said total 4,636 measles cases have been reported in Sindh since January 2013, out of which 151patients died...
